Apple has rejected the latest issue of Saga (Saga #12) over depictions of gay oral sex. As a result, Saga #12 will not be available through any iOS app- including iOS versions of Comixology. So in order to get Saga #12 in digital format, you will have to do so via the Comixology web site or through the Android version of Comixology.
Since its first issue, Saga has had its fair amount of sexual and graphic imagery. But why now and why depiction of gay sex? Is it a case of someone in Apple’s review department finally saying something over what they saw in Saga #12? Is this a sign of Apple cracking down on what they are allow in digital comics available through their iOS apps- and if so, how will this affect not only Saga but other mature-themed comics? Is Saga #12 the first of many mature-themed comics to be banned by Apple?
We should see an answer within the next couple of weeks as more mature-themed comics are scheduled for release. If the comments posted over on The Beat are any indication, expect even more upset people.
